Recap:
Wonderful weekend at the Minocqua Almost Winter Dryland Race:
Dogs did well considering this was the first race for most of them.
Jack was a ham as always, trying to get love from any human walking by. Sprinted his heart out in the 2 Dog Bike, and paired well with Snoop from another kennel.
Nadja had her first race experience, and pulled hard the entire time. She stayed pretty calm even in the chaos. She’s small but has a strong will, we just need more hill work and she’ll do great in future races.
Ari was cool as a cucumber, and we found out she is much more suited to team rig runs vs the scooter, she gave us a each day during the race to convey this wasn’t her jam.
Grum “won” the fun run and was amazing! He got a taste of race life and as soon as he figured out his purpose he was all in! Love that young dude.
Besides the actual race, it was amazing to chat with so many mushers, and also hang out with the MN crew. Also enjoyed working the booth and meeting locals that were introduced to
the sport.
Can’t wait for more races and to get back to training this week!
And yes, every time I see a photographer I strike a pose.
